Welcome to Episode 28 of Chatmosa's Podcasters in Training, where our dynamic team of podcasters and creatives come together to share their experiences, insights, and the latest news in the world of podcasting and media. This lively session, hosted by David, Head of Product at Chatmosa, featured key contributors and fledgling podcasters who have made great strides in their creative endeavors.
The session opened with a friendly round of introductions, where each guest shared a bit about their podcasts and personal projects. Camille, CEO and co-founder of Chatmosa, enthusiastic about reconnecting after a brief hiatus, expressed, “I’ve missed you guys! It’s been too long since we’ve caught up.” The light-hearted atmosphere was palpable as each speaker passed the metaphorical mic, creating a warm sense of camaraderie that set the tone for the conversation.
Derek, Head of Growth, shared his excitement about his podcast, “Auntie Derek’s Daytime T,” while Nish discussed his dual podcasts, detailing “Good Grief” and “Be Good,” focused on personal storytelling and encouragement. Reflecting the diversity of the group, Nicole, founder of Kopecki Publishing, highlighted her transition into podcasting and the challenges and triumphs of balancing content creation. Each participant showcased their unique voice and commitment to engaging their audiences.
The session’s focus quickly shifted to the current landscape of media and the evolving nature of traditional broadcast journalism. Camille initiated a conversation surrounding the unexpected termination of prominent journalists like Scott Pelley from 60 Minutes. “Broadcast is changing,” she noted, emphasizing the role of independent platforms like Chatmosa in allowing creators to share their narratives without the constraints of corporate oversight. David added, “People are moving from TV news to building their own brands, becoming independent storytellers directly to their audiences,” highlighting the shifting dynamics of how news is consumed today.
One of the highlights of the episode was an insightful discussion on the importance of community engagement and storytelling integrity. Nish raised concerns about the state of journalism, stating, “As independent creators, it’s crucial that we maintain a standard of integrity in our work.” The group agreed that while opinions are welcome, hate speech and disinformation should not have a place in their community.
The conversation also brought the spotlight on Chatmosa's initiatives to support its creators. David introduced the concept of the "BBB Bundle,” encouraging podcasters to think of themselves as brands. “Become a brand, build your community, and bring in revenue,” he asserted, emphasizing the need for creators to lay the groundwork for monetization through their content.
As the session wrapped up, the participants engaged in a fun, informal photo-sharing segment, illustrating the power of visual storytelling. David showcased his recent trip to Italy, capturing breathtaking architecture and cultural nuances, while Sandra humorously shared challenges with a significant plumbing issue at Chatmosa HQ. The lighthearted exchanges offered a reminder that, amidst serious discussions, laughter and connection are essential.
In closing, the hosts encouraged their podcasting audience to embrace their unique stories and consider how they could innovate within their craft. “Podcasting doesn’t have to be a conversation between two people; it can be a snapshot of your thoughts, just like a photo,” David enthused, inviting everyone to see podcasting as a versatile medium limited only by their creativity.
This session of Podcasters in Training was not only a fantastic exploration of individual experiences but also a rallying cry for independent creators to unite in their storytelling and make their voices heard in an increasingly complex media landscape. Join us next week as the Chatmosa team continues to navigate the vibrant world of podcasting and media innovation.
